Return to the Breath

This exercise may help you gain awareness of the natural rhythms of the body. Awareness of the body will help you to concentrate on the present moment. The aim of this exercise is to pay attention to the air as it passes through your nostrils. Do not try to control your breathing or to deepen it. Just let it come and go naturally. Concentrate on the sensation of air passing through your nostrils. If you find your mind has wandered, bring it back to the sensation in your nostrils. If you practice this for five minutes, it will have a calming effect. You can return to this practice when you are stressed and tense.

OSHO - Meditation

Meditation in the East is not what is understood by it in the West. In the West, meditation means contemplation: meditating in God, meditating on truth, meditating on love. But if you meditate on something, you are not meditating at all, because you are focusing on something outside yourself. It may be love, it may be truth, it may be God, it makes no difference.

Meditation in the East has a totally different meaning, just the opposite of the Western meaning. Meditation in the East means having no object in the mind, no content in the mind, no meditating upon something but dropping everything - neti, neti. neither this or that. Meditation is emptying yourself of all content. When there is no thought moving inside you there is stillness, and that stillness is meditation. Not even a ripple arises in the lake of your consciousness, and that silent lake, absolutely still, is meditation.

And in that meditation you will know what truth is, you will know what love is, you will know what godliness is. Not by meditating on God ... See the point: how can you mediate on God? You don't know anything about God. All your meditation is going to be just imagination, an exercise of imagination. You don't know truth - what are you going to meditate upon? Some idea given by others, some belief, some concept? That is not going to help.

First become meditation, and then in meditation, truth, godliness, love and all that is transcendental will be revealed to you.

Mediation is just being, not doing anything - no action, no thought, no emotion. It is very simple - a totally relaxed state of consciousness where you are not doing anything. The moment doing enters, you become tense, anxious. What to do? How to do it? How to succeed? How not to fail? You have already moved into the future.

In meditation you just are. And it is a sheer delight. Meditation is just being delighted in your own presence; meditation is a delight in your own being.

Where does this delight come from, when you are not doing anything? It comes from nowhere or it come from everywhere. It is not caused by anything, because existence itself is made of the stuff called joy. It needs no cause, no reason. If you are unhappy you have a reason to be unhappy; if you are happy, you are simply happy - there is no reason for it. Your mind tries to find a reason because it cannot believe in 'the uncaused' because it cannot control the uncaused - with the uncaused the mind simply becomes impotent. So the mind goes on finding some reason or other. But I would like to tell you that whenever you are unhappy, you have a reason to be unhappy, because happiness is just the stuff you are made of. It is your very being, it is your innermost core. Joy is you inner most core.

Dark Room Enlightenment - The pineal gland and DMT

from: Dark Room Enlightenment by Mantak Chia

Pineal Gland

The pineal gland is the connection point for the Spirit or Soul. It is the physical center for, and transmitter
of, psychic phenomena such as telepathy, clairvoyance in time and space, and the actual influence of
thoughts on the physical surroundings9. (Fig. 16)
“When activated, the pineal gland becomes the line of communication with the higher planes. The
crown chakra reaches down until its vortex touches the pineal gland (Fig. 15).

Prana, or pure energy, is
received through this energy center in the head. With practice the vibration level of the astral body is raised,
allowing it to separate from the physical. …To activate the ‘third eye’ and perceive higher dimensions, the
pineal gland and the pituitary body must vibrate in unison, which is achieved through meditation and/or
relaxation. When a correct relationship is established between personality, operating through the pituitary
body, and the soul, operating through the pineal gland, a magnetic field is created. The negative and
positive forces interact and become strong enough to create the ‘light in the head.’ With this ‘light in the
head’ activated, astral projectors can withdraw themselves from the body, carrying the light with them.10
Fig. 15. Crown Vortex

“The pineal works primarily by converting the higher dimensional Light, that is constantly streaming into
your reality, into usable information for your pituitary. As it gradually activates, the pineal permits the body to
move its vibrational patterns into higher and higher levels. This process also allows your Light Body to
attach itself even deeper into your physical instrument (Fig. 17). Our process is to reset the focus in the
pineal. This chemical ‘lens’ largely disappears as you grow older. The decrease in its efficacy is one of the
major reasons for your body aging as quickly as it does. When the pituitary begins to receive the consciousness
energy packets from the Well of Dreams through its interaction with the pineal, it secretes enzymes
that permit the chemical ‘lens’ in the pineal to reappear. As this ‘lens’ strengthens, it allows the RNA/DNA
protein strings in your cells to activate your ‘third strand’.”

The pineal gland is located in one of the oldest anatomical regions of the brain. If you draw an imaginary
line from the center of your forehead, crossed by a line through the head at the ears, you have its
general location. The pineal is cone-shaped, about 8 mm (1/3 inch) in diameter, weighing from 50 to 150
mg. The gland is most active during childhood, and begins to regress at about age 7, becoming a calcified
tissue strand in the adult (Fig. 18).

There are numerous anatomical and physiological idiosyncrasies associated with the pineal. It is one of
the few solitary organs (most organs in the brain are paired, left and right). While small, the blood flow to the
gland is quite large. The pineal has been considered as a homologue of the reptilian ‘third eye’. Its
photosensitivity derives from neural connections with the retina (Figs. 12).
The Taoist practice of Orgasmic Upward Draw is very important to help stimulate the pineal gland.
Taoists regard the pineal as the second sexual gland(Fig. 19). In the Kan and Li practice, the steaming
process helps to clean out all of the organs and reactivate the thymus and pineal glands.
Fig. 19. Pineal as Second Sexual Center.

Fall from Grace

Nothing could be more natural than the state of Wu Chi, nothingness, or divine grace. And yet, the
realization of Wu Chi is clouded by obscurations and confusions. Consciousness streams into every body,
but only a few can see the light. Why is this so?
An essential function of the “upper brain”, the Upper Tan Tien, is to manifest the esoteric and divine
realizations of consciousness into our humanly bodies. Chi spirals through the Crown and the Third Eye
into the pineal and pituitary glands, sustaining existence and nourishing the spirit. Infants and children
bask in the glow and the power of the Chi Field streaming into, and interacting with, their bodies. The
psyche is vibrant and alive and the energy bodies communicate in non-physical dimensions.
As we grow older, however, the internal realities begin to fade and the external world begins to predominate
our existence. By puberty, the pineal gland has ossified into a calcified strand of tissue. Our
minds project outwardly, and the demands of existence (work, family, daily living, etc.) preoccupy our
awareness. Our emotions (fears, angers, resentments and all kinds of distractions to make ends meet)
reflect this outward movement of the psyche.
Fear is the oldest negative emotion. It is felt by all animals, and is even stronger among humans since
they have so little power to protect themselves, especially the newborn. The longer history required for
organic development makes fear the basis of the entire civilization process: to protect ourselves and
achieve our highest potential. Fear is closely connected to the kidney Chi (via the adrenal glands), and
when the kidney Chi is diminished, the brain slowly begins to pull back and disengage from the fantastic
worlds of the Divine. The upper brain becomes the observing brain, dedicated to the worldly tasks of
sending, receiving and processing sensory signals related to daily living.
Inhibiting the Divine
The transition from an internally focused awareness of the Divine, the natural state of infancy, to an
externally focused awareness of the adult World, requires significant shifts in the chemistry of the brain.
The tissues and molecules which normally manifest the consciousness of Wu Chi must be “turned off” or
inhibited. Chemically, the inhibitors are enzymes such as MAO (monoamine oxidase) which rapidly
convert seratonin into inactive by-products, thus disabling the synthesis of the spirit molecules. The
enzyme MAO breaks down seratonin before it can be converted into melatonin, 5-MeO-DMT and DMT
(Fig. 20).

Our usual perception of the world in waking consciousness is, in fact, a state of waking ignorance.
The brain must inhibit our true nature and divine connections to survive in the physical world. In everyday
life, we see everything back to front, as it were. We perceive the primary actions of the brain as providing
us with sensibility and cognitive awareness. In fact, the brain’s mechanism is to filter and shut off the flow
of divine consciousness, making possible survival on Earth, but obscuring all transcendental realities.
Dark Room meditations remove the obscurations. The inhibitory functions of the brain are lifted, and we
revel in the experience of Oneness, Wu Chi, the Original Source.
Reawakening – Spirit Molecules
Waking consciousness satisfies the demands of physical existence, but severs the connection from the
Divine. Thus, each night we must disconnect from the outer world and reconnect with our divine source,
thereby sustaining life and nourishing the soul. In adult life, the experience of Wu Chi is relegated to the
unconscious domains of deep sleep and the supernatural worlds of dream. In Taoist Inner Alchemy, we
reawaken the soul to the Immortal Tao, the Wu Chi, the Original Source, and bring back the Divine into our
conscious awareness.
Chemically, the reconnection to the Divine occurs by inhibiting the enzymatic actions of MAO and
INMT, so that seratonin can convert into melatonin and melatonin into the spirit molecules 5-MeO-DMT (5-
methoxy-dimethyltryptamine) and DMT (dimethyltryptamine) (Fig. 21). The enzymes are inhibited by substances
secreted in the pineal gland, such as harmaline and pinoline. The “spirit molecules” allow us to
reconnect to divine consciousness. They cause “color imagery, out of body experiences, lucid dreams,
visions of beings and/or animals, mystical states, subjective “other realities” and experiences of “being
somewhere else.” These states are the language of dream.
Fig. 21. Tryptamine Synthesis

In the Dark Room experience, the “spirit molecules” pinoline, 5-MeO-DMT and DMT alter the receiving
qualities of the brain. The brain “tunes in” to invisible worlds and parallel universes, like a television tuning
in to different channels. Mystical and near-death, out-of-body experiences reflect dynamic equilibria between
“channels” in which we experience the essential energy that courses through the receiver15.
When you reach the ‘DMT state’ you begin to function consciously from the various psychic centers or
chakras. The bodily processes of ‘Healing Love’ combine the human states of true compassion and sexual
arousal to create a new chemistry and a new vibration within the body. This ‘special’ vibration occurs at a
frequency of 8Hz. ‘As in the macrocosm, so it is in the microcosm’; hence if we make love, then all the cells
and DNA actually make love as well. The DNA crosses over, like two serpents intertwined in an erotic
embrace. You need the orgasmic vibration to arouse this crossover process which leads to the ‘two giving
birth to three’; the conception of new cells. The two vital states are compassion and arousal leading to
orgasm. Both are inextricably linked to love.
Immortal Body
Rick Strassman, based on several years of intensive medical research, proposes that the release of
DMT from the pineal gland at 49 days after conception marks the entrance of the spirit into the fetus. This
49-day prenatal period corresponds to the first signs of fetal pineal tissue, the differentiation of the gonads
into male and female, and the time between the death of an individual and its soul’s next rebirth according to
the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. He suggests that the individual’s life-force enters the body through the
pineal gland and leaves it through the pineal gland at death (see “DMT, The Spirit Molecule”, by Strassman,
and16. The infant’s brain is flooded with 5-MeO-DMT, secreted from the pineal gland and the brain is 40%
more active and open.

Benefits of Dark Room Experience

The Dark Room meditations will influence each person uniquely, depending on their maturity and stage of spiritual development. However, most people, even beginners, will receive great benefits, which
may include:

1. Relaxation. This is one of the foundations for all other work. During the first days of the retreat, catching up on sleep, allowing the eyes to recuperate from the over-stimulation of our visual world, releasing the grip of mental concerns, plans, and a agendas and simply letting the energies settle creates the best vacation you may ever have.

2. Once relaxed and feeling at home in the dark, the Inner Lights may appear as well as possible images of space teachers, deities, colors, and shapes. Imbalances in one’s energies can manifest as dull colors.

3. Over time, as one becomes more open, balanced and awake, images clear as day may appear, not inside the mind’s eye but outside in the space of the retreat.

4. Advanced practitioners may experience some of the following: Dreams and sleep become more lucid. A state of continuous consciousness arises in which there is no break in conscious awareness; meditation can continue during sleeping and non-sleeping hours.

5. The Taoist Secret of Love and the Healing Love become very active, so that working with sexual energies and engaging in creative work become easier and more powerful.

6. Dreams will often take the form of teachings or participation in great mythological stories.
The Dark Room enables the body and mind to undergo a series of profound transformations. The ‘states of consciousness’ appear correlated with the organic synthesis and accumulation of psychedelic chemicals in the brain, especially melatonin (Days 1 to 3), pinoline (Days 3 to 5), 5-MeO-DMT (Days 6 to8), and DMT (Days 9 to 12). The pharmacology of these states is as follows.

‘Melatonin Stage’ (Day 1 to 3)

Complete isolation from external light causes the pineal gland to flood the brain with the neurotransmitter melatonin (average 2 to 5 mg/day), manifesting initially as the need for sleep and rest. The eyes
recuperate from the over-stimulation of the visual world, releasing the grip of mental concerns, plans agendas, and letting the energies settle. Melatonin is essential for maintaining the hibernation state, which facilitates the emergence of spiritual consciousness. The person retains a child-like biological condition where melatonin is conserved and recycled, not wasted in biological continuation. When this substance works together with the yellow marrow in the bone, the reddish firing reaction will activate a gentle interaction between the sacred water and the light. The sacred waters are the inner fluids that are responsible for
producing bone marrow and other bodily fluids. The waters run not only in the in the center of the bones, but also in the spinal connections between the Crown and Perineum Points.

‘Pinoline Stage’ (Day 3 to 5)

After about three days, when melatonin concentrations reaches sufficient levels (15 to 20 mg) the body then begins to produce the superconductor pinoline, whereby a greater fluidity of thought and healing of the body starts to occur. Pinoline induces cell replication (mitosis) and intercalates with DNA molecules. The ‘pinoline stage’ is normally activated only in the womb, in lucid dreaming, or in near death experiences.
Within this state we can metaprogram the brain to the Unity of Self, heightening awareness of the pathways with which we filter reality. At this stage, the nervous system becomes aware of itself. We become aware of the hologram of the external world that we create constantly in our head24.

When the pinoline is triggered you activate your clairsentient and clairaudient powers. You may see light and visions, hear music, and gain phenomenal insight. A decoding of the DNA then begins to take place. Cosmic particles are attracted to us and decoded in the form of sound, light, knowledge and realization. The particles, which have the same cell structures as humans (and from which the Tao believes you evolved), are attracted to you magnetically. The body has approximately six trillion cells, which correspond to the universe ‘without’. Each of these cells can be seen as a computer with unlimited power and potential.
Each cell can become a super conductor, able to receive information from space. You are able to decode this universal information carried from outer space, which may be as old as nothingness itself. When you enter this primordial state or force you are reunited with the true self and divinity within. You literally ‘conduct’ the universal energy. You may see into the past and future, understand the true meaning of existence, and begin to understand the order of things. You return to the womb, the cocoon of our material structure and Nature’s original Dark Room.

‘5-MeO-DMT Stage’ (Day 6 to 8)

At this stage the pineal gland starts to produce the neuro-hormone 5-MeO-DMT (aka ‘akashon’). This
psychoactive tryptamine is highly luminescent and also extremely phosphorescent due to the amount of
phosphene that it transmits onto the visual cortex. 5-MeO-DMT switches on 40% more of the cerebral
cortex and awakens the nervous system to become aware of itself; ‘beingness’ results. Hence, the possibility
of metaprogramming the nervous system’s bio-computer - activating healing and conflict message assortment
of the nervous system. 5-MeO-DMT is the empathogenic neurotransmitter that expands the emotional
body between ‘infinity and zero’. It gives rise to telepathy in the emotional and intuitive bodies. It
engages the awakening of the ‘Flower of Life’, the spine, which begins to glow in a state of beingness and
peace.
5-Meo-DMT discharges the darkness from the darkroom. A bright light is activated and one experiences
a born-again mentality. This Great White Light, the manifestation of the astral body, enables the self
to project externally. At this point, some degree of ‘N-Methyl-D-Aspartare Inhibition’ (NMDA-I) usually
occurs. This is a ‘soft form’ of the slowing of the glutamate input signals into the cells. This makes it easier
for the nervous system to cause electrons to stop flowing within the cells, allowing for profound meditative
trance states. 5-MeO-DMT intercalates with messenger RNA. One can see in 3 dimensional Holon pictures,
as the thoughts behind language.
“Techniques taught in the Dark Room enable one to read and go beyond the matrix, by unifying all
directions, and externalize the soul computer so that one can start to interact with ones own genetic code
of the Tree of Life. In this intensive process 5-MeO-DMT activates the entire spine, the Tree of Life. The
spine is activated and reprogrammed and you can start to process the illusion of the dream from its binary
code into the unified translated Self: the Unity Self. Through 14 days of total light isolation your consciousness
can be expanded to the wider range of wave emanations and transduce the core hologram of reality
that is coherently programming ones nervous system to the Unity Self25.”
Many exercises will be practiced during this period: compacting Chi, consciousness and awareness
into the nervous system, working with the Silent Self and anchoring the Immortal Body.
The 5-MeO-DMT prepares the nervous system, through its empathetic state of being and self
awareness of the nervous system, for the DMT or dimethyltryptamine production of the pineal gland, in
psychoactive milligram doses.

‘DMT Stage’ (Day 9 to 12)

When DMT levels reach more than 25 mg, one’s experience can become very visual. DMT is the visual third eye neurotransmitter. It enables the energy body and spirit to journey into hyperspace, beyond third dimensional realms of time and space. It is intensely energizing. “After some 10-12 days one starts to see in infra red, and ultra violet, one can actually run across the room and touch a person, by seeing their heat patterns. The Holon Images exteriorize and one is walking in a Virtual Reality, which appears to be the DNA language macro uploaded, and interactive.”
When you reach the ‘DMT state’ you begin to function consciously from the various psychic centers or chakras. The bodily processes of ‘Healing Love’ are then combined with those of the Dark Room. The human states of true compassion and sexual arousal create a new chemistry and a new vibration within the body. This ‘special’ vibration occurs at a frequency of 8Hz. ‘As in the macrocosm, so it is in the microcosm’; hence if we make love, then all the cells and DNA actually make love as well. The DNA crosses over, like two serpents intertwining in an erotic embrace. You need the orgasmic vibration to arouse this crossover process which leads to the ‘two giving birth to three’; the conception of new cells. The two vital states are compassion and arousal leading to orgasm. Both are inextricably linked to love. When this ‘love-vibration’ reaches the pineal gland a new hormone is produced, which in turn creates whole body conductivity. Only when you feel the waves of orgasmic vibration and unconditional love for the self and others can the process be activated and the essence of the darkroom is magnified. At this stage of the Dark Room Retreat, the required amount of sleep tends to diminish dramatically.

Although the day may last 24 hours, 3 hours of sleep can seem like 12. During this period we will engage in further practices; psychic games and interactivity, Taoist Dream Yoga (advanced levels) and Imagination Expansion.

Oil Pulling

In the morning before breakfast on an empty stomach you take one tablespoon in the mouth but do not swallow it. Move Oil Slowly in the mouth as rinsing or swishing and Dr Karach puts it as ' sip, suck and pull through the teeth' for fifteen to twenty minutes. This process makes oil thoroughly mixed with saliva. Swishing activates the enzymes and the enzymes draw toxins out of the blood. The oil must not be swallowed, for it has become toxic. As the process continues, the oil gets thinner and white. If the oil is still yellow, it has not been pulled long enough. It is then spit from the mouth , the oral cavity must be thoroughly rinsed and mouth must be washed thoroughly. Just use normal tap water and good old fingers to clean.

Clean the sink properly, you can use some antibacterial soap to clean the sink. Because the spittle contains harmful bacteria and toxic bodily waste. If one were to see one drop of this liquid magnified 600 times under a microscope, one would see microbes in their first stage of development.

It is important to understand that during the oil-pulling/swishing process one's metabolism is intensified. This leads to improved health. One of the most striking results of this process is the fastening of loose teeth, the elimination of bleeding gums and the visible whitening of the teeth.

The oil pulling /swishing is done best before breakfast. To accelerate the healing process, it can be repeated three times a day, but always before meals on an empty stomach. The result of this healing research has attracted amazement and resulted in further research. This additional research concerning Oil Therapy has now been thoroughly documented, especially with regard to physiological similarities between individuals. It is surprising that through this biological healing method a wide variety of symptoms have unquestionably disappeared without any side-effects. This simple method makes it possible completely heal such a wide variety of diseases which would normally be treated by an operation or by powerful or potent Drugs, usually with significant side-effects.

Optimal Physical Strength

by James Clair Lewis

Most people's muscles only fire 30% of their muscle fibers, when a muscle is flexed. While apes (& other creatures), employ 100% of a muscle's fibers, when a muscle is flexed. This accounts for what is refered to as animal strength. Size of a muscle is less important, than how much of its capacity is employed. There is a fairly simple breathing/muscle flexing technique people can use, that increases the percentage of muscle fibers that fire when a muscle is flexed. Bruce Li was aware of it, and taught it to some of his students. The result is that the person can become immensely strong, but their muscles will appear no larger than anybody else's muscles.

Training the core/stabilizer muscles is an important part of this process. You can do that with Yoga, Pilates, or Martial Arts, like Tai Chi. But there is one further step you can take, which is the real Key. This Key Principle can be applied to any physical movement form, but I will explain it here, using only the most basic form, which is Standing.

Stand in the optimally erect posture, with feet directly under the shoulders, shoulders back, & chin slightly tucked in. You should be relaxed & breathing normally. Once you have gotten into this posture & are comfortable with it, you will tense every muscle in your body at once, beginning with the transverse adominus muscle (the gut), without changing your posture the least little bit, (meaning that you will NOT raise your shoulders up, or alter the posture from simply standing at all). Then, maintaining the posture, and the tension of the muscles, you will inhale slowly & hold your breath, still without altering your posture in any way. Finally, you will relax, exhale, and remain standing in the optimal posture of standing.

This simple exercise will increase the percentage of muscle fibers that actually fire, when you flex or use your muscles. When that percentage reaches 60%, you will be effectively twice as strong, although you won't appear any different, (besides looking rather good when skyclad). Consider a 120 lbs girl, as strong as an average 240 lbs man. That can be achieved, and possibly even more...

The core/stabilizer muscles are what keep your body erect, but when they are weak or imbalanced, people develop poor posture, which limits their physical range of motion & capacity. When one core/stabilizer muscle is flexed, then all of them flex, and the easiest way to do that, is to flex the transverse adominus muscle, which is your gut muscle. Ever notice that in Martial Arts literature, they often speak of focusing in the center of gravity, the Dom Tien? This is what they are talking about.

If you use this exercise in a less than optimal posture, (like shoulders up, or back swayed to a side or something like that), you will strengthen your muscles INTO the maladapted posture. I'm sure you can see how that wouldn't work out so well. So if you have postural problems, it might be a good idea to be seeing a chiropractor, a massage therapist, AND some kind of exercise therapist, (like a Hatha Yoga, or Tai Chi instructor), before beginning to use this technique. With those three healing modalities being employed, your posture will be corrected enough to make use of this technique to its full advantage.

Using this technique with Yoga or Martial Art forms, will strengthen your body in those forms. Begin with the relaxed Standing posture. Then, tense the body & inhale, as explained above. Hold the breath while tensed in the posture, and when you exhale & relax, you move into the next posture in the series. Then you repeat this process with each form of the set. This approach will enable you to exert optimal strength in all of the motions that your body uses. It probably would be a very bad idea for someone without this training, to pick a fight with somebody who has been practicing with this technique for any amount of time... especially, if the practitioner has developed beyond 60% muscle fiber efficiency.

Kundalini - Infinite Creative Potential

Kundalini is a Sanskrit word meaning either "coiled up" or "coiling like a snake." There are a number of other translations of the term usually emphasizing a more serpent nature to the word - e.g. 'serpent power'.

The caduceus symbol of coiling snakes is thought to be an ancient symbolic representation of Kundalini physiology.

The concept of Kundalini comes from yogic philosophy of ancient India and refers to the mothering intelligence behind yogic awakening and spiritual maturation. It might be regarded by yogis as a sort of deity, hence the occasional capitalization of the term.

Within a western frame of understanding it is often associated with the practice of contemplative or religious practices that might induce an altered state of consciousness, either brought about spontaneously, through a type of yoga, through psychedelic drugs, or through a near-death experience.

According to the yogic tradition Kundalini is curled up in the back part of the root chakra in three and one-half turns around the sacrum. Yogic phenomenology states that kundalini awakening is associated with the appearance of bio-energetic phenomena that are said to be experienced somatically by the yogi.

This appearance is also referred to as "pranic awakening". Prana is interpreted as the vital, life-sustaining force in the body. Uplifted, or intensified life-energy is called pranotthana and is supposed to originate from an apparent reservoir of subtle bio-energy at the base of the spine. This energy is also interpreted as a vibrational phenomena that initiates a period, or a process of vibrational spiritual development.

The source text for the concept of kundalini is the "Hatha Yoga Pradipika" written by Swami Svatmarama (English translation, 1992) somewhere between the twelfth and fifteenth centuries. Any examination of the topic should include this work. The pradipika is one of the later developments in yoga sacred texts. Hatha Yoga is strictly speaking a forcing technique which has as its primary aim the forcing of the arising of kundalini.

The main emphasis is a difficult regime of breathing techniques meant to increase the store of "prana" in the body. The well known physical postures are only meant to be an aid to maintain peak physical fitness, so as to support the real work of the breathing practices. All of this has, according to tradition, to be accompanied by prolonged and unbroken meditation practise (for which the main text is the "Yoga Sutras of Patanjali"). The text adds that great good fortune is another requirement, i.e.luck, for the procedure to succeed. However, these techniques are not without dangers.

Vegetarians Make Better Lovers

Facts for Men: Meat-Eating Causes Impotence

Medical evidence indicates that meat-eating does indeed cause impotence, because meat clogs up the arteries going to all organs, not just to the heart. Meat-eating is also linked to numerous other health problems, including heart disease, cancer, and stroke.

Many healthy vegan foods are loaded with natural aphrodisiacs—nutrients and chemicals that boost your and your partner's sexual arousal and performance. Research has shown that vegetarians enjoy greater amounts of the nutrients that help boost sexual health and performance—such as vitamins A, C, and E and potassium—than meat-eaters do.

*On a side note; a beautiful source brought to my attention that eating pineapple and eliminating meat will leave men tasting better to their lover, which is a win win situation if you get my drift.

Want A Healthy Prostate?

A vegan diet can lower the risk of developing prostate cancer, say researchers. They have found that men who eat a vegan diet have lower levels of a growth factor that is associated with prostate cancer than either meat-eaters or vegetarians.

Men who ate four daily servings of vegetables were 35 percent less likely to develop prostate cancer than those who ate only two servings a day. But the guys who included veggies from the cabbage family like broccoli, Brussels sprouts and kale just three times per week had an even greater benefit: They were 41 percent less likely to develop prostate cancer than those who only ate one serving a week. Researchers speculate that to digest these vegetables the body needs to produce an enzyme that also happens to fight cancer-causing compounds.

Vegan Aphrodisiacs

Try serving your lover these scrumptious vegan aphrodisiacs to help put both of you in the mood:

* Asparagus:Asparagus is high in vitamin E, which increases blood and oxygen flow to the genitals, and potassium, which is important for healthy sex hormone production, making this veggie a well-known aphrodisiac. Its suggestive phallic shape makes it as enticing to the eye as it is to the mouth. To get the best effect, eat this delicious and healthy vegetable at least three days in a row.

* Bananas: A fruit with a sexy shape, bananas are said to contain chemicals that can lift your mood and make you more confident. Bananas are also famously high in potassium, a nutrient that aids in sex hormone production and boosts energy.

* Berries: The perfect foods to feed your lover, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries are high in vitamin C, which is important for making sex hormones and neurotransmitters

* Carrots: Carrots are bursting with vitamin A, a nutrient needed for producing sex hormones. For guys, vitamin A is vital for sperm production.

* Chili Peppers: These sizzling veggies will spice up your meal and your evening! Adding chili peppers to your dishes gets your heart pumping and produces neurochemicals known as endorphins, which make you happier.

* Chocolate: Nothing shows your love—or your compassion—better than a box of vegan chocolates for your sweetheart. Chocolate contains the chemical phenylethylamine, which is believed to stimulate romantic feelings by making you happy and excited. Its natural caffeine provides an added boost by giving you more energy.

* Ginger: Seasoning your meals with ginger will enhance blood flow to all parts of your body as long as your arteries aren't clogged up from eating the cholesterol and saturated fat in meat, eggs, and dairy products.

* Licorice: A fun food to hand-feed your lover, researchers have found that the smell of licorice mixed with cucumber is the most sexually stimulating scent for women. Licorice is widely believed to produce feelings of love and lust—particularly in women.

* Nuts: Men should eat cashews, pecans, almonds, walnuts, and other nuts to take in a healthy amount of zinc, which keeps men potent and prevents prostate problems. Nuts are also high in protein, which gives you the energy to keep you going throughout the day—and night.

* Pumpkin: Neurological research has shown that the scent of pumpkin pie is a sexual stimulant for both men and women, increasing male penile blood flow by 40 percent. Pumpkin seeds are one of the best vegan sources of zinc, which for men is crucial for potency and in preventing prostate problems.

* Soy: Soy isn't just protein-packed and amazingly versatile—it's also great for the sex lives of both guys and gals. For women, soy's natural nutrients have been linked to less PMS and better lubrication . The benefits for guys are even better—soy has been found to lower men's chances for developing cancer of the prostate (a vital gland for keeping everything pumping in the bedroom). Researchers at Kansas State University found that soy protein was just as good as beef for guys trying to gain muscle mass. But quite unlike cow flesh, tofu and veggie burgers have zero cholesterol and almost no saturated fat, substances that lead to heart disease, impotence, and other not-so-sexy stuff, like bad breath and body odor.

Advaita-Vedanta : Nonduality - Rising Above Illusion

By Remez Sasson

The philosophy of Nonduality, or as it is called in India, Advaita-Vedanta, says that there is just One Spirit in the Universe, and that everything, living or inanimate, is an inseparable and indivisible part of this One Spirit. Nonduality further says that it is only illusion, caused by the mind and the play of the senses, which makes us regard the world and everything in it, as real and separate from us.

For someone not familiar with this philosophy, it might sound strange and even weird, but once understood, it can completely change one's attitude and perspective about life.

Imagine a state, in which you feel oneness with the Universe, enjoying bliss and peace of mind, and at the same time acting and functioning normally in your day-to-day life. A state of being active in the world, yet maintaining a state of inner detachment. In this state you are aware of your oneness with the One Spirit, and also aware that the One Spirit is acting and manifesting through everything, matter, plants, trees, animals and people. This is the experience of nonduality in its highest form.

Our thoughts and five senses draw the mind outside, to the external world, and obscure the awareness of the consciousness that is beyond the mind. Through meditation, we gain inner peace and the ability to silence the mind and lift up the obscuring veil of thoughts, and are then able to taste and experience the "state" of nonduality. In this state of inner silence, one rises above the illusion of identification with the mind, thoughts and ego, gets beyond the illusion of separateness, and realizes the oneness with the One Spirit. It is as if a new sort of consciousness dawns, and one sees the world in a different way.

With this kind of consciousness we are able to allow the mind to be active or command it to be silent at our command. It becomes our faithful servant, instead of being our master. We function very effectively in the outer world, yet our basis is in pure, calm and limitless consciousness, which is not attached to anything and not limited by anything. In this state, we live and view the world from the nonduality point of view.

Though in our day-today life we regard other people, as separate from us, as separate units, this is only a mental viewpoint, convenient for functioning in our day to day life. From a higher state of consciousness, all are One, and the terms "I", "you", "he", "she" and "they" are not real. There is only the One Spirit, Consciousness, which manifests in limitless forms and ways. The outer forms might be different, but the Spirit within them is one undivided Spirit. It is the mind, which lets us believe and feel that we are separate from others, but we are all part of the the same One Spirit manifesting and expressing itself through diffrent forms.

The concept of nonduality is not a strange or weird idea. It can be experienced and lived right here and now, no matter where you are, and without attracting anybody's attention. It is an inner state of consciousness, not an external state.

It is possible to realize the meaning of nonduality and live in nonduality, which can lead to what is termed as spiritual awakening and enlightenment, in an ashram or a cave, and it is also equally possible to do so while living in a town or city, with family and a job. All you need is a strong desire, dedication, an open mind, and the willingness to invest time and effort in pursuit if this goal.

Most people cannnot afford to leave everything behind, in order to meditate and lead a purely spiritual life. Theye need to work and support their family, and can therefore devote only part of the day to spiritual pursuits. The good news is that you can walk on the inner path of spirituality and nonduality, meditation and self realization, without abandoning your family, job or outer life style. With proper planning, it is possible to find the time and the energy for the inner work.

Meditation and walking on the spiritual path, which can lead to understanding and experiencing nonduality, can be practiced anywhere, without making external changes in your life. You can stay with your job and family, and still make spiritual progress and realize the true meaning nonduality.

Look within you, search for the source of your thoughts, where they come from, and you will start to be aware of your true essence and the consciousness beyond your mind. You will then start to understand what nonduality really is. A peaceful mind is a great help in realizing nonduality, as well as concentration, meditation, reading of spiritual literaure, and when possible, the proximity and guidance of true spiritual teachers.

The Way to Realizing Nonduality

Even if you only accept the philosophy of nonduality in theory, you stop being hurt by people and outside events. You stop giving importance to unimportant matters, and get a glimpse of the taste of real freedom. When you free yourself from the erroneous idea that you are a separate ego, happiness, joy and inner strength step into your life.

By developing the power of concentration, and through meditation and detachment the mind becomes quiet, and nonduality becomes a fact for us. Then life is lived differently and in a better way.

A practical method that Sri Ramana Maharshi has taught and advocated, and which I can vouch for from personal experience is called the "Vichara".
It is a form of meditation in which you incessantly ask yourself in your mind the question, "Who am I?"

Do not try to find the answer through the mind. Just ask the question and let the answer come from the inside. Keep looking inside yourself and asking the question, and your awareness of this "I" will increase. You will find out that as your mind becomes concentrated and silent it becomes easier to experience this inner awareness.

Do not pay attention to the ideas and answers that come from your mind. The answer comes through the intuition, as an inner certainty and knowledge. It is not the mind that KNOWS. It is the PURE CONSCIOUSNESS, your real I that knows.

If the answer comes as a thought, ask yourself whose thought it is, and where did it come from. Look inside to find its source. This source is what we are seeking in this meditation.

This kind of meditation may be practiced often, and everywhere, not just while sitting and meditating at definite times. When the awareness of this "I" increases you will find that at times you experience a kind of a silent, free consciousness, and yet be able to function normally. You will know what Oneness means.

Though on the material level you continue to function as a separate unit, you come to understand the illusion of the world, and experience through your awakened consciousness the reality of nonduality and the Oneness of the Spirit. This is spiritual awakening and enlightenment.

Namaste!

Namast้ or Namaskar (in Hindi, from Sanskrit nama te; Pronounced Nah-mah-stay) is a South Asian greeting originating in India, which is used when both hello and goodbye would be used in English. The meaning is quite different, however.

Sanskrit nama means "bow, obeisance, reverential salutation, adoration". Te is the dative of the personal pronoun tvam, "you". A literal translation of nama te is thus "reverential salutation to you." It is commonly accompanied by a slight bow made with the hands pressed together, palms touching, in front of the chest.

In a religious context this word can be taken to mean any of these:

The Spirit in me meets the same Spirit in you.
I greet that place where you and I are one.
I salute the Light of God in you.
I bow to the divine in you.
I recognize that within each of us is a place where Divinity dwells, and when we are in that place, we are One.
My higher energy salutes your higher energy.
In other words, it recognizes the equality of all, and pays honor to the sacredness and Ainterconnection of all, as well as to the source of that interconnection. Namaskar is the term for such greetings, and is also used as a greeting itself.

Namaste!

I honor the place in you
In which the entire universe dwells,
which is of peace, love, truth, light and beauty
And when you are in that place in you
And when I am in that place in me
We are in the same place

The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a Divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. The gesture is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. "Nama" means bow, "as" means I, and "te" means you. Therefore, Namaste literally means "bow me you" or "I bow to you."

To perform Namaste, we place the hands together at the heart charka, close the eyes, and bow the head. It can also be done by placing the hands together in front of the third eye, bowing the head, and then bringing the hands down to the heart. This is an especially deep form of respect. Although in the West the word "Namaste" is usually spoken in conjunction with the gesture, in India, it is understood that the gesture itself signifies Namaste, and therefore, it is unnecessary to say the word while bowing.

We bring the hands together at the heart chakra to increase the flow of Divine love. Bowing the head and closing the eyes helps the mind surrender to the Divine in the heart. One can do Namaste to oneself as a meditation technique to go deeper inside the heart chakra; when done with someone else, it is also a beautiful, albeit quick, meditation

Mind over Matter

Though the concept of Mind over Matter has been around for a long time, and often used in the context of yoga, our understanding of it has remained mystical and in the realm of magic and legendary fantasies. It has recently come back to light through research and discoveries in quantum physics, where the scientists doing the research have clearly seen that their powers of observation influence the outcome of their experiments. Since this has become very apparent at the level of quantum energies within the molecular structures, which are the building blocks of matter, it can only lead us to conclude that matter also is influenced by the observer. In short then, we are not just observers but also partly directing what we are observing. How mush is "partly" depends on the level of developement of the individual mind.

It has now become a reality accepted by the scientific community that our mind and consciousness are responsible for creating our "expected" experiences. Yoga has been stating this for thousands of years, and now that millions of people are practicing Hatha yoga as a fitness exercise there is an awakening curiosity about just what role our mind plays in the overall scheme of things.

Much more to be said here... stepping out from the world of Merlin, Gandalf and Harry Potter, there is a movie called: "What the Bleep Do We Know" which brings the reality of quantum physics to the public eye. If you have not yet seen this movie, Go for it.

http://www.whatthebleep.com

Some of the reviews:

What the Bleep Do We Know? says that science and spirituality are not different modes of thought, but are in fact describing the same thing. And it brings the power back to the individual man and woman as it demonstrates creation as the god-like capacity of every individual.

It has been called by some theater goers The Handbook to The Matrix. Like The Matrix it shows you a greater reality behind the one we all accept as true, and you have the ability to create absolutely anything from your own thought while laughing all the way!

What the Bleep Do We Know!? is a wake-up call to the hundreds of thousands of people who are searching for a voice somewhere in this fragmented culture who have been awaiting a catalyst.

It has arrived!
This bold, funny, unique work goes to the heart of the human dilemma. It challenges and lays waste the old paradigms of thought and places responsibility squarely where it belongs - on individual human consciousness.

Most of the scientists and researchers seen in the film are renown in their fields and have done amazing work in the area of mind/body connections, or mind over matter phenomena.

Self Multi-dimensional Energy Alignment

As has been explained in Sheldan Nidle’s recent updates, we, the Starseeds, and the rest of Earth’s population, have been aligned energetically through our multidimensional chakra system. However, due to Mother Earth's precarious situation as she labors to give birth to an ascending fourth-dimensional planet, the Galactic Federation scientists, the Angelic Hierarchies, the Elohim and Time Lords have had to prevent Mother Earth from birthing prematurely. To slow her down, they have used new energy grid patterns and a different time frequency hologram. The direct result is that our multidimensional chakra alignment was disrupted. Consequently, many starseeds experienced physical, emotional and mental blocks that have caused pain and discomfort. To help us to realign and facilitate the work of the Earth’s Angelic realm, a self-healing technique was channeled through my healing guides. It is a simple method that anyone can do to help realign their energies.

The following is the self-healing method, which you can do while seated anywhere:

1. Sit down. Slowly inhale and exhale three times and wait until you feel quiet inside. Then proceed to ask the Earth Angels of Mother Earth to help you realign your chakra energies.

2. Put your right hand two inches below your navel (over an energy vortex) and open your left palm up over your left thigh. You will start to feel energy running through your right hand. Wait until you cannot feel the energy anymore, then remove your right hand, while keeping your left hand as is for the entire process.

3. Move right hand two inches above the navel over another energy vortex and repeat above steps. Remove right hand.

4. Place right hand over the energy vortex above heart. Repeat above steps. Remove right hand.

5. Place right hand over throat, where another energy vortex exists. Repeat above steps.

6. Place right hand over the energy vortex between eyebrows. Repeat above steps. Thank the Earth Angels for their help.

You will experience a release of energy from every energy vortex (chakra) and, when you finish, you will feel clearer, lighter and more balanced. Repeat this simple self-healing exercise every time you feel any kind of discomfort.

DEER EXERCISE: For better sexual health and a higher consciousness

As you do the two steps of this exercise, "feel" the fire or energy
generated in your sexual glands and feel it rise upward along the spine into
the breasts and the head. (Never try to use visualization to help the energy
rise.) Linking mind and body is a prerequisite for the harmonious and
powerful functioning of vital energy. Bringing this energy to the pineal
gland in the head is the Divine purpose.

First Stage

1. Sit so that you can press the heel of one foot against the opening of the
vagina. You will want a steady and fairly firm pressure against the
clitoris. If it is not possible to place your foot in this position, then
place a fairly hard, round object, such as one of the steel balls commonly
sold in boxed sets in Chinese shops, against the vaginal opening. (You may
experience a pleasurable sensation due to the stimulation of the genital
area and the subsequent release of sexual energy.)

2. Rub your hands together vigorously. This will cause heat in your hands by
bringing the energy of your body into your palms and fingers.

3. Place your hands on your breasts to that you feel the heat from your
hands enter into the skin.

4. Rub your breasts slowly in outward, circular motions. Your right hand
will turn counter-clockwise; your left, clockwise.

5. Rub in this circular manner for a minimum of thirty-six times or a
maximum of 360 times up to two times a day. It will not be necessary to do
360 hand rotations once a woman has succeeded in stopping her period. Less
than 100 rotations, twice a day, will suffice to maintain a suspension of
menstruation once it has stopped. A woman is the best judge of when she
should suspend or resume menstruation. Resumption occurs after cessation of
the exercise.)

Second Stage

This exercise can be done sitting or lying down.

1. First, tighten the muscles of the vagina and anus as if you were trying
to close both openings, and then try to draw the rectum upward inside the
body, further contracting the anal muscles. When done properly this will
feel as though air is being drawn up into the rectum and vagina. Hold these
muscles tight for as long as you can comfortably.

2. Relax and repeat the anal and vaginal contractions. Do this as many times
as you wish.

NOTE A You may insert a finger into the vagina when you do the contractions,
to determine the strength of your contractions.

NOTE B The lips of the vagina are sensitive and must be massaged and
stimulated during the Deer Exercise. Sitting on the heel of a foot or a ball
serves this purpose. Finger pressure also serves this purpose, but if finger
pressure is used on the vaginal lips, it is important to rub the lips and
press each of the twelve pressure points surrounding the opening in a
clockwise motion. Alternatively, your partner can rub the vagina. This is
very beneficial because the energy that flows through the hands of one
partner flows into the body of the other. (In the man's Deer Exercise, the
woman can do the rubbing and holding of the testicles.)

If a woman finds it tiring to use both hands at once to do the breast
rubbing, she can use one hand on the opposite breast while the other hand
rests. Or, the free hand can be used to stimulate the vaginal opening in
place of the heel. Another method is that the man rubs both breasts while
the woman rubs or presses her vagina with her hand. As you can see, this is
very flexible exercise which can be adapted to individual preference.

The first few anal and vaginal contractions may be hard to do. Eventually,
though, you will be able to increase the number of times you can do it as
well as the length of time you are able to hold the contractions. When done
properly, a pleasant feeling will travel from the base of anus through the
spinal column to the top of the head. This is caused by the build-up of
sexual energy and its movement up through the glandular system to the pineal
gland at the top of the head.'

The outward rubbing of the breasts is called "dispersion," and it helps
prevent lumps and cancer of the breast. It will also decrease the size of
breasts that are too large and flabby. Reversing this direction to an inward
motion, so that the right hand circles clockwise and the left hand circles
counter-clockwise, is called "stimulation" and its effect is to enlarge
undersized breasts.

Do this exercise in the morning upon arising and at night before retiring.

When you practice the Deer Exercise, try to avoid touching the nipples. A
woman's nipples are very sensitive and easily over-stimulated.

If the exercise is done correctly, a woman will notice an increased
sensitivity in her nipples.

Menstruation

A woman's sexual organ system consists of four inter-related parts: the
vagina, the uterus, the ovaries, and the breasts. Their inter-relationship
can be observed during the course of pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing.
Menstruation ceases during these events, and the blood that would be lost
during menstruation goes to nourish the baby. After the child is born, the
energy is converted to milk for nursing. Menstruation resumes only when
nursing stops.

So, stimulating the breasts whether through nursing or massage, as in the
Deer Exercise, actually stimulates all the sexual organs. Most women find
the exercise very pleasurable, many even reaching orgasm with it.

The Deer Exercise stops menstruation for the same reason that nursing
prevents it. When the Deer Exercise is performed, the body reacts just as if
a baby were regularly sucking on the breast. The body rushes blood to the
breasts rather than the uterus. Taoists refer to this phenomenon as "turning
back the blood" because it reenergizes the entire body, expecially the
sexual organs.

For thousands of years, the Deer Exercise was used as a technique of family
planning. But its main use was for maintaining a youthful countenance.
Historical records show that women famous for their beauty consistently use
the technique even after giving birth to many children.

The length of times required to stop the menstrual cycles varies by
individual. Most women accomplish this within two weeks to six months, but
some require as long as a year. All that can be said is that if you practice
the exercise diligently, it will happen.

Women should not perform the Deer during pregnancy. The energy generated by
the exercise combined with the accompanying increased stimulation of the
sexual gland might induce premature labor. Using the Deer Exercise during
the menstrual period is permissible., In fact, it usually brings almost
immediate relief from menstrual discomfort.

Doing this exercise will correct menstrual irregularities. It will eliminate
menstrual cramps and strengthen sexual ability. If you do the exercise with
more than the recommended minimum of thirty-six hand rotations twice a day,
— as much as 360 times twice a day — you can stop menstruation totally. But
on one condition. You must not let your thoughts wander to other matters.

When doing the Deer Exercise, it is important to concentrate on the divine
purpose, as it is very easy to become sexually stimulated. If the menstrual
period does not stop, practice the Deer more frequently. Work at it a little
harder and concentrate on the Divine purpose, even when the body becomes
stimulated.

The Deer Exercise will not prolong a woman's fertile period. Menopause will
still arrive on schedule at the time specified by the individual's
biological clock. However, the problems usually associated with menopause
will not appear.

The biological aging process will stop at the point where the Deer Exercise
begins to work. If you stop your period at age twenty, you will never look
older than twenty years of age. So as you can see, the earlier you begin the
Deer Exercise, the younger and healthier you will be. (This also applies to
men.)

Furthermore, many students used this method to assist family planning. There
were extremely satisfied with it because no chemicals, surgery, or side
effects were involved.

*********************************************
The Deer Exercise for Men

The Deer Exercise achieves four important objectives. First, it builds up
the tissues of the sexual organs. Second, it draws energy up through six of
the Seven Glands of the body into the pineal gland to elevate spirituality.
(There is a hormone pathway that leads from the prostate, connects with the
adrenal glands, and continues on to the other glands.) Concurrently, blood
circulation in the abdominal area is increased. This rush of blood helps
transport the nutrients and energy of the semen to the rest of the body.

When energy is brought up into the pineal gland, a chill or tingling
sensation is felt to ascend through the spine to reach the head. It feels a
little like an orgasm. If you feel a sensation in the area of the pineal
gland, but do not feel the tingling sensation in the middle of the back, do
not worry. Your sensitivity will increase with experience. If after some
time you still cannot sense the progress of energy, certain problems must be
taken care of first.

Self-determination is the third benefit derived from the Deer Exercise. If
one gland in the Seven Gland system is functioning below par, the energy
shooting up the spine will stop there. A weakness is indicated, and special
attention should be given to that area. For example, if the thymus gland is
functioning poorly, the energy will stop there. The energy will continue to
stop there until the thymus gland is healed. When the thymus is again
functioning normally, the energy will then move further up along the spine
towrad the pineal gland. If the energy moves all the way up to your head
during the Deer Exercise, it indicates that all the Seven Glands are
functioning well and that there is no energy blockage in the body,. If you
do not feel anything during the Deer Exercise, a blockage is indicated. The
movement of energy can be felt by everyone if no dysfunctions are
encountered.

The fourth benefit of the Deer Exercise is that it builds up sexual ability
and enables the man to prolong sexual intercourse. During "ordinary"
intercourse the prostate swells with semen to maximum size before
ejaculating. During ejaculation, the prostate shoots out its contents in a
series of contractions. Then, sexual intercourse ends. With nothing left to
ejaculate, induce contractions, or maintain an erection (energy is lost
during ejaculation), the man cannot continue to make love. But, if he uses
the Deer Exercise to pump semen out of the prostate in small doses, pumping
it in the other direction into the other glands and blood vessels, he can
prolong intercourse.

Under ordinary circumstances, when the Deer Exercise is not used during
intercourse, it will be harmful to interrupt orgasm or prolong intercourse
by ordinary means. Under ordinary means, the prostate remains expanded for a
long time, unrelieved by the pumping action of the ejaculation, until the
semen is carried away by the blood stream. But the prostate is somewhat like
a rubber band: it must be allowed to snap back to its original form,
otherwise continuous extension will bring about a loss of elasticity. When
the prostate loses its elasticity, its function is impaired and it is
damaged. The Deer Exercise prolongs orgasm and intercourse, but it protects
the prostate by relieving it.

The Deer Exercise is a physical exercise as well as a mental and spiritual
exercise. It improves one's sexual abilities as it builds up the energy
reserves within the body. Over time, the mental processese are heightened as
well, and the outcome is often a glowing feeling of inner tranquility, which
is a necessary prerequisite for the unfolding of the golden flower.

This exercise may be done standing, sitting, or lying down.

First Stage — The purpose of the first stage is to encourage semen
production

Rub the palms of your hands together vigorously. This creates heat in your
hands by bringing the energy of your body into your hands and palms.

With your right hand, cup your testicles so that the palm of your hand
completely covers them. (The exercise is best done without clothing.) Do not
squeeze, but apply a slight pressure, and be aware of the heat from your
hand.

Place the palm of your left hand on the area of the pubis, one inch below
the navel.

With a slight pressure so that a gentle warmth begins to build in the area
of the pubis, move your left hand in clockwise or counterclockwise circles
eighty-one times.

Rub your hands together vigorously again.

Reverse the position of your hands so that your hleft hand cups the
testicles and your right hand is on the pubis. Repeat the circular rubbing
in the opposite direction another eighty-one times. Concentrate on what you
are doing, and feel the warmth grow. For all Taoist exercises, it is very
important — indeed, it is necessary — that you concentrate on the purpose of
the physical motions, for doing so will enhance the results. It will unify
the body and mind and bring full power to the purpose. Never tro to use the
mind to force the natural processes by imagining fires growing in the public
area, or any other area. This is dangerous.

Second Stage — Tighten the muscles around the anus and draw them up and in.
When done properly, it will feel as if air is being drawn up to your rectum,
or as if the entire anal area is being drawn in and upward. Tighten as hard
as you can and hold as long as you are able to do so comfortably.

Stop and relax a moment.

Repeat the anal contractions. Do this as many times as you can without
feeling discomfort.

As you do the second stage of the exercise, concentrate on feeling a
tingling sensation (similar to an electric shock) ascend along the pathway
of the Seven Glands. The sensation lasts for fractions of a second and
results naturally. Do not try to force this with mental images.

Some teachings suggest that thoughts should be used to help or guide energy
flow. Those who make these suggestions misunderstand the nature of energy.

There are six forms of energy: mechanical energy, heat energy, sound energy,
radiant energy, atomic energy, and electrical energy. We emit electrical
energy. The electrical energy in man differs drastically from that used to
run a house, for example. The electrical current in the average house
fluctuates at 60 cycles per second; in men, 49,000,000 cycles per second.
The latter figure is about half that of light, which travels at 186,000
miles per second. So when a man starts to think or breathe, the electrical
energy will have already reached its destination. Our thoughts, breaths,
etc. are too slow to guide the flow of electrical energy.

What occurs at the unconscious level was not meant to be subject to the
control of the conscious mind. If the conscious mind interfere with
something it was not evolved to control — helping or guiding electrical
energy through visualization, thoughts, etc., — it can cause a great deal of
damage. Its interference with the natural progress of energy can cause
schizophrenia, brain damage, and a host of other problems. Taoists call
these calamities "Disintegration into Evil."

The Deer Exercise is extremely safe — provided, that is, it is not
supplemented with techniques of other teachings. For show, various
incompatible techniques are often thrown together to create spectacular
techniques, but the results are often disastrous. Lao-Tse said, "My way is
simple and easy." And true Taoist methods ARE simple and easy.

NOTE A At first you may find that you are able to hold the anal sphincter
muscles tight for only a few seconds. Please persist. After several weeks
you will be able to hold the muscles tight for quite awhile without
experiencing weariness or strain.

NOTE B To determine whether the Deer Exercise is having an effect on the
prostrate gland, try this test: as you urinate, try to stop the stream of
urine entirely through anal muscle contractions. If you are able to do so,
then the exercise is effective.

NOTE C Pressure is being placed on the prostate gland as it is gently
massaged by the tightening action of the anal muscles. (The anus can be
thought of as a little motor which pumps the prostate gland.) Thus
stimulated, the prostate begins to secrete hormones, such as endorphins,
etc., to produce a natural high. When the prostate goes into spasms, a small
orgasm is experienced. By alternately squeezing and relaxing the anus during
the Deer Exercise, a natural high is produced without having to jog ten
miles or endure the side-effects of running.

NOTE D Do this exercise in the morning upon rising and before retiring at
night.

Vegan diet and yoga fight cancer‏

By Roger Highfield, Science Editor

The Telegraph - 16/06/2008

A vegan low fat diet combined with yoga and exercise can help fight prostate cancer, new findings show

Researchers found that combining a diet low in fat and rich in fruit and vegetables with regular moderate exercise seems to switch on genes that fight disease, while effectively turning off others that can promote cancer

The evidence that genes are not your fate, undermining what the authors call "genetic nihilism," comes from a study of men with early stage prostate cancer but could be of relevance to a wide range of cancers, such as breast cancer

This is accoring to Dr Dean Ornish, founder and president of the non-profit Preventive Medicine Research Institute and clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco

Inspired by studies that show prostate cancer is rarer in parts of the world where people eat a predominantly low-fat plant-based diet, he devised a vegan diet for patients, along with exercise, and a resulting "striking" effect on the way genes are used in the body is reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences by Prof Ornish, working with Dr Christopher Haqq and Prof Peter Carroll

An earlier randomised control study by his team on 93 men with early stage prostate cancer who make intensive changes in diet and lifestyle showed it may stop or perhaps even reverse the progression of their illness

The new pilot study shows, for the first time, that men with low-risk prostate cancer who made improvements in fitness, stress management and nutrition - one linked with benefits when it comes to other diseases too - altered the use of genes that have a role in tumour progression

The team studied gene expression - use - in biopsies taken with a needle from 30 men who were diagnosed with low risk prostate cancer and who had decided not to undergo conventional treatment for reasons unrelated to the study…The researchers studied the genes again three months later, after participants had made significant, prescribed lifestyle changes

The use of over 500 genes was beneficially affected in normal tissues, so they believe the benefits could apply to women as well.. Around 50 disease preventing genes were upregulated, or turned on, and certain disease-promoting genes, including genes involved in prostate cancer and breast cancer, were downregulated, or turned off

"It is striking there are so many changes, and to such a degree," said Dr Haqq, adding that the effects on cholesterol were comparable to those achieved with a drug

The findings complement earlier work that showed that, after a year PSA levels (a protein linked with prostate cancer) decreased in men in the group who made comprehensive lifestyle changes but increased in the comparison group

There was a direct correlation between the degree of lifestyle change and the changes in PSA

Also, they found that blood serum from the participants inhibited prostate tumour growth in the test tube by 70 per cent in the lifestyle-change group but only nine per cent in the comparison group.. Again, there was a direct correlation between the degree of lifestyle change and the inhibition of prostate tumour growth

Understanding the mechanisms of how comprehensive lifestyle changes alter the ways genes are used may strengthen efforts to develop effective prevention and treatment strategies for prostate cancer, they conclude, adding that bigger studies are now needed

Ed Yong, health information manager at Cancer Research UK, said: "People often think that their odds of getting cancer are written in their genes.. But studies like this suggest that changing your lifestyle can change the activity of your genes, and that nature can be changed by nurture"

"This study tells us that men with low-risk prostate cancers can change the levels of certain genes that are relevant to cancer by making positive lifestyle changes, like keeping active, eating a healthy, balanced diet and managing their stress levels

"These steps helped to turn on some cancer-preventing genes and turn off other cancer-promoting ones.. But, importantly, the study hasn't yet shown whether these genetic changes will actually stop their tumours from developing further, and it will be interesting to see if they do

"Long term, it will also be interesting to see if combining specific lifestyle advice with the emerging knowledge of the genetic variations that affect a man's risk, will allow doctors to give tailored advice to men at highest risk, allowing them to minimise their chances of developing prostate cancer"

Prof Ornish believes "an ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure" and has found that two principles help: the first is to make small, incremental changes such as walking 2,000 steps more per day and to consume 100 calories less per day.. Over time, these small changes add up and make a meaningful difference

A second approach is to motivate people to make more intensive changes in diet and lifestyle.. Paradoxically, some people find it easier to make big changes than small ones because when they make comprehensive changes in diet and lifestyle, they often feel so much better, so quickly, that it "reframes the reason for making these changes from fear of dying to joy of living"

Healthy diet and lifestyle

A vegan diet consisting primarily of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes supplemented with soy, vitamins and minerals…Low fat regime with only 10 per cent of calories from fat, and low refined flour and sugar

Moderate aerobic exercise, such as walking for half an hour a day, an hour a day of yoga/meditation, and a once weekly support group sessions

However, when it comes to prostate cancer the largest study of its kind to investigate the role of diet (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition) found no effect of fruit and vegetables, or dietary fat

Unhealthy diet and lifestyle

High red meat, low fruit and vegetables; high saturated fat, salt and dairy; and sedentary lifestyle.. However, Prof Orinish and his team stress that individual's fat intake (and other lifestyle factors) varies based upon his/her personal health

"For example, an individual in good health might have different nutritional plans (including fat intake) and exercise and stress management versus an individual who is fighting a specific disease"
